DROP BEAR MYTHS & LEGENDS

THERE ARE MANY MYTHS AND LEGENDS SURROUNDING DROP BEARS, [KNOWN TO INDIGENOUS PEOPLE AS YOWIES AND BUNYIPS] THESE ARE JUST A FEW.

It is believed Government Policy is to never mention Drop Bears, and to deny their existance, except under the names Yowie or Bunyip, and only as Indigenous legends.  This stance is taken to protect the $ billion tourist industry.

A recent five year study of the Port Keats / Wadeye area, N.T., by the C.D.U., offically into Yowie legends, was actually an investigation into recent Drop Bear attacks.

The reason Japan never landed troops in Australia during World War 11, was because of their fear of Drop Bears.  [with approximately one soldier per 100kms of top end coastline, what else stopped their triumphant push south dead in it's tracks?]  The "Brisbane Line" was in fact where enough Drop Bears could be mustered to form a skirmish line across the country, as a last line of defence.

The book Picnic at Hanging Rock, [and the movie of the same name], although fictitious, is said to be based on reports of a Drop Bear attack.  Under Government pressure all references to Drop Bears have been deleted.

Rumours amongst the Kelly Clan, suggest Ned built his armour for protection after a close encounter with a Drop Bear, protection against bullets was an after thought.
["think about it", his armour gave good protection from above, only his arms were exposed, which was necessary to control a horse.  Against bullets, in a standing position, it left his limbs exposed, in a prone position, it was so heavy he would have needed help to get to his feet, not very practical.]

Our border protection network, has as its primary job, the prevention of Drop Bears getting to Asia and wreaking havoc.  It's secondary role, is to detect illegal entry into Australia. [ If this wasn't so the Government would simply use surveilance satellites at a much lower cost.]
